[ KPOP ] SNSD, f(x), and Norazo perform at KBS’s “Go, N7W! Here is Jeju” concert

On July 20th, KBS broadcasted the controversial “Go, N7W! Here is Jeju” concert, an event organized by Jeju Island as part of their promotional bid to become part of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’.
The controversy swirls around how JYJ were appointed as ambassadors earlier in May, but things took an ugly turn after JYJ’s scheduled performance was cancelled abruptly by KBS just four days before the actual concert, citing that the legal wrangle with SM Entertainment was unfinished.
Despite the mounting criticisms in the aftermath, the show must go on, and JYJ have said that they will continue to promote and support Jeju Island’s bid. The concert meanwhile went on as scheduled this evening with SNSD, f(x), Norazo amongst many others performing their hit songs.

[ KPOP ] SNSD Popularity Continues in Japan !

The popularity of South Korean girl group, Girls’ Generation continues to soar undauntedly in Japan.According to a Japanese music site, CDV-NET, Girls’ Generation’s “MR.TAXI/Run Devil Run” single came in 7th on the weekly charts and was the only South Korean group which made the top 10.

Ever since their label mate, TVXQ, made the entry into the top 10, there has not been any other South Korean artist on the list. The data was collected from the 4th of July to the 10th, and even though both singles were roughly released 3 months ago on the 27th of April, they remain just as popular as ever.Girls’ Generation’s Japanese debut single, “Genie” is also still on the charts after a good 9 months, and is currently at the 35th position. Ever since the release of the single on 20th October 2010, “Gee” has remained on the top 100 weekly charts for 38 consecutive weeks, further proving their takeover in Japan. This week, the certified Gold single was placed 25th on the chart. As there are more than 3,500 artists on CDV-NET, the popularity of an artist can be easily judged based on the ranking of their albums and singles.Ever since Girls’ Generation first announced their plans to break into the Japanese music industry back in September, their album sales have increased in folds. Their debut single, “Genie”, was awarded the Gold certificate for selling more than 100,000 copies. Less than a year later, Girls’ Generation’s self-titled first Japanese album sold more than 100,000 copies in less than 2 days, and has since been certified as Double-Platinum for selling more than 500,000 albums.Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will be starting off their 2nd Asia Tour on the 23rd of July at the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium, 5 days after wrapping up their Japan Arena Tour. Following that, they will also be making an appearance as the first South Korean female artist to attend Japan’s “Summer Sonic 2011” on the 14th of August.

[ TIPS ] Having a good diet

The following basic guidelines are what you need to know to construct a healthy diet.

1  Eat plenty of high-fiber foods—that is, fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains. These are the "good" carbohydrates—nutritious, filling, and relatively low in calories. They should supply the 20 to 30 grams of dietary fiber you need each day, which slows the absorption of carbohydrates, so there’s less effect on insulin and blood sugar, and provides other health benefits as well. Such foods also provide important vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals (plant chemicals essential to good health).

2 Make sure to include green, orange, and yellow fruits and vegetables—such as broccoli, carrots, cantaloupe, and citrus fruits. The antioxidants and other nutrients in these foods may help protect against developing certain types of cancer and other diseases. Eat five or more servings a day.

3 Limit your intake of sugary foods, refined-grain products such as white bread, and salty snack foods. Sugar, our No.1 additive, is added to a vast array of foods. Just one daily 12-ounce can of soda (160 calories) can add up to 16 pounds over the course of a year. Many sugary foods are also high in fat, so they’re calorie-dense.

4 Cut down on animal fat. It’s rich in saturated fat, which boosts blood cholesterol levels and has other adverse health effects. Choose lean meats, skinless poultry, and nonfat or low-fat or nonfat dairy products.

5 Cut way down on trans fats, supplied by hydrogenated vegetable oils used in most processed foods in the supermarket and in many fast foods.

6 Eat more fish and nuts, which contain healthy unsaturated fats. Substitute olive or canola oil for butter or stick margarine.

7 Keep portions moderate, especially of high-calorie foods. In recent years serving sizes have ballooned, particularly in restaurants. Choose a starter instead of an entrée, split a dish with a friend, and don’t order supersized anything.

8 Keep your cholesterol intake below 300 milligrams per day. Cholesterol is found only in animal products, such as meats, poultry, dairy products, and egg yolks.

9 Eat a variety of foods. Don't try to fill your nutrient requirements by eating the same foods day in, day out. It is possible that not every essential nutrient has been identified, and so eating a wide assortment of foods helps to ensure that you will get all the necessary nutrients. In addition, this will limit your exposure to any pesticides or toxic substances that may be present in one particular food.

10 Maintain an adequate calcium intake. Calcium is essential for strong bones and teeth. Get your calcium from low-fat sources, such as skim milk and low-fat yogurt. If you can't get the optimal amount from foods, take supplements.

11 Try to get your vitamins and minerals from foods, not from supplements. Supplements cannot substitute for a healthy diet, which supplies nutrients and other compounds besides vitamins and minerals. Foods also provide the "synergy" that many nutrients require to be efficiently used in the body.

12 Maintain a desirable weight. Balance energy (calorie) intake with energy output. Exercise and other physical activity are essential.

13 If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. That is one drink a day for women, two a day for men. A drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 4 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof spirits. Excess alcohol consumption leads to a variety of health problems. And alcoholic beverages can add many calories to your diet without supplying nutrients.

[ FOOD ] Ways for Home-Made Ice Cream !

Well, there are some ways and methods to make your own delicious ice-cream.. I'd love to have one ! Nyumm~ Check out this one !

Freezer Bag Method

  1. 1
This is good for making individual servings of ice cream to be eaten promptly after making. The video below shows a slightly different recipe but still instructs on how to make ice cream with a sandwich bag.
  2. 2
Mix sugar, milk or half & half, and flavoring in a bowl, then seal it in a quart-sized plastic bag.
Mix sugar, milk or half & half, and flavoring in a bowl, then seal it in a quart-sized plastic bag.
Mix sugar, milk or half & half, and flavoring in a bowl, then seal it in a quart-sized plastic bag.
    • For this method, if you use chocolate for the flavoring, double it.
  3. 3
Take roughly two quarts of ice, crushed if possible, and place it into the gallon-sized bag with rock salt (also known as course salt).

Take roughly two quarts of ice, crushed if possible, and place it into the gallon-sized bag with rock salt (also known as course salt). Ideally, the gallon bag will be roughly half full with the ice and salt mixture.
  4. 4
Place the sealed quart-sized bag with the ingredients into the gallon-sized bag. Make sure the bags stay sealed. Do not allow the contents to mix at any time. If the bags don't seal sufficiently, use duct tape to seal the top of both bags to ensure they don't open during shaking.
  5. 5
Gently agitate, massage, and shake the bags for about fifteen to twenty minutes.
Gently agitate, massage, and shake the bags for about fifteen to twenty minutes.
Gently agitate, massage, and shake the bags for about fifteen to twenty minutes. In this amount of time the contents of the quart bag should start to turn into solid ice cream. It is important that you are mixing the contents of the inner bag, but you don’t want to be so aggressive that you burst the inner bag or cut it on the ice. Double-bagging should prevent this. If your hands get uncomfortably cold, use a towel or an old t-shirt to hold the bags as you massage them; they will be quite cold and might become slippery with accumulated condensation. Consider using gloves or massaging while holding onto the top seal if a towel or similar cloth is not available.
  6. 6
Then once you are done, enjoy your ice cream.

Pot-Freezer Method

  1. 1
This is how ice cream was typically made before modern refrigeration, using ice cut from lakes and ponds.
This is how ice cream was typically made before modern refrigeration, using ice cut from lakes and ponds.
This is how ice cream was typically made before modern refrigeration, using ice cut from lakes and ponds. Hand-cranked ice cream machines are a variation of the sorbtierre (a covered pail with a handle attached to the lid) which is a French adaptation of the pot-freezer method.
  2. 2
Put the ice cream ingredients in a bowl.
  3. 3
Put the bowl in a tub filled with ice and salt. Make sure the ice and salt mixture doesn't spill over the edges or into the bowl.
  4. 4
Mix the ingredients of the bowl vigorously.
Mix the ingredients of the bowl vigorously.
Mix the ingredients of the bowl vigorously. The salty ice water will absorb heat from the mixture, bringing it below the freezing point of water and turning the mixture into ice cream.[1] It's important to mix as thoroughly as you can to prevent the formation of ice crystals. If you can, use a whisk or better yet, a hand-held mixer.

Freezer Method

  1. 1
This method works best with a custard-based recipe, because the result will be much smoother. Since it involves a good bit of waiting, however, it may not be the most immediately gratifying for kids.[2]
  2. 2
Pour the ice cream mixture into a deep baking dish, or bowl made of plastic, stainless steel or something durable in the freezer.
  3. 3
Put it in the freezer for 20 minutes.
  4. 4
Check the mixture. When it starts to freeze at the edges, take it out and stir it vigorously with a spatula until all the ice crystals are broken up. If you can, use a whisk or a hand-held mixer.
  5. 5
Check and stir every 30 minutes until the mixture turns into ice cream. This might take 2-3 hours.

Coffee Can Method

  1. 1
This is very similar to the bag method, except instead of using two bags, you use two coffee cans, one bigger than the other.
  2. 2
Put the ice cream mixture in the smaller coffee can. Seal tightly.
  3. 3
Put the smaller coffee can in the big coffee can along with ice and rock salt. Seal the large can tightly.
  4. 4
Shake the large can vigorously for about 10 minutes. Kids can roll or throw it around, but make sure the cans are sealed well and do it outside, just in case. Check the small to see if the mixture has turned into ice cream yet. If you see ice crystals forming, stir or whisk. Continue shaking, rolling, or throwing until ice cream is formed.

Ball Method

  1. 1
This can only be done with a commercial product that mixes ice cream within a specially made ball with two chambers.[3]
  2. 2
Fill the ice end with with ice and 1/2 cup of rock salt (3/4 cup if using the larger size ball) and close by hand.

    • Standard ice cubes may not fit. You might need crushed ice.
    • You'll probably need at least 10 ice trays' worth of ice.
  3. 3
Pour the ice cream mixture into the end with a metal cylinder. Leave an inch (2.5cm) at the top for expansion and close by hand.
  4. 4
Shake, roll, and pass the ball around for 10-15 minutes.
Shake, roll, and pass the ball around for 10-15 minutes.
Shake, roll, and pass the ball around for 10-15 minutes. The ball will probably be heavier than you expect.
  5. 5
Open the ice cream end with the plastic wrench that comes with the ball. Scrape the sides of the cylinder with a plastic or wooden spoon (metal will damage the cylinder). Close the lid by hand.

    • Since the chamber is narrow and deep, stirring the ice cream might be difficult. If necessary, use the wooden handle of a spoon or spatula.
  6. 6
Check the ice end. Open the lid with the plastic wrench. Pour out any water and add more ice and up to 1/3 cup of rock salt. Close the lid by hand.
  7. 7
Shake, roll, and pass the ball around for 5-10 minutes.
  8. 8
Check the ice cream. Repeat the above steps as needed, or eat the ice cream as is.

    • When you pour the ice cream out, be careful that it doesn't spill into the raised decorative ledges and tight crevices; these may be very difficult to clean later on, especially if you use chocolate chips.
    • The ice cream tends to be "soupy" in the middle and solid along the edges.
